NOAA-UNH Joint Hydrographic Research Survey

Please be advised that the NOAA-UNH Joint Hydrographic Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping will be conducting a hydrographic research project starting October 12, 2022 through October 18, 2022.  Operations will be conducted daily from 0800 to 1630.

A remote operating team aboard the R/V Gulf Surveyor will be conducting daily operations with the DriX-12 and its DriX Docking System (DDS). The DriX-12 is a remotely controlled programmable vehicle (boat) equipped with seafloor and water column mapping sonars. The DDS is a towed platform for docking the DriX at sea in preparation for recovery aboard a large ship. The R/V Gulf Surveyor will be standing by in the immediate vicinity of the DriX-12 no more than 1 nm away. The team will also have, at sea or on standby, the R/V RUBY (RUBY is a RHIB) in the event additional assistance is required. The attached map shows the research area.  Fishermen are advised to move gear from these locations if necessary.  Vessels will be monitoring VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16.

The point of contact for this project is Captain Matt Rowell(603) 397-7717, or Andy McLeod(603) 998-3156. If gear is lost, please contact Captain Rowell, Andy McLeod or your local Marine Patrol Officer for more information.
