Updated 4/8: Marine Baseline Surveys of Disposal Sites around Flake Island, Frenchboro, and St. Helena

UPDATE DATE CHANGE: CR Environmental Inc. will be conducting a marine baseline survey of disposal sites around Flake Island, Frenchboro, and St. Helena, Maine starting April 11 to April 14, 2022. Operations will be conducted from 6 am to 6 pm.
Maine DMR works with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to provide notice to fishermen. According to USACE, the surveys are expected to take one day each for Stonington (St. Helena) and Isle Au Haut (Flake Island). The survey for Frenchboro is expected to take two days. The attached map shows the survey areas. Fishermen should remove gear from these locations. ANY GEAR REMAINING IN THESE SURVEY LOCATIONS RISKS BEING LOST.
The F/V Gunsmoke, Duffy 42’ will be using a grab sampler with an attached video system and hull mounted multibeam echo sounder. Vessels will be monitoring VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16.
